Minnedosa woman dead, four-year-old twins in hospital after crash
A Minnedosa woman is dead and her four-year-old twins are in hospital after the van she was driving collided with a semi-trailer on the Trans-Canada Highway on Friday, RCMP have confirmed.
Brandon RCMP said today the 32-year-old woman died in the crash while her four-year-old daughter was airlifted from Brandon Hospital to Winnipeg in critical condition. The girl has been upgraded to stable condition.
Her four-year-son is also in stable condition.
Their names are not being released.
RCMP said the driver of the semi-trailer, a 64-year-old man from North Dakota, was not injured.
RCMP said the van was turning westbound onto the Trans-Canada Highway from PR 340 at about 5:20 p.m., when it collided with the truck, sending the van some distance away into a field.
RCMP are continuing to investigate along with two traffic analysts and the department’s Criminal Crash Investigation Team.
Westbound traffic was rerouted for about five hours after the collision.
