Police find vehicle stolen in St. Vital carjacking

Police have found the Volkswagen Rabbit stolen from a woman at gunpoint at St. Vital Shopping Centre on Friday.

But they’re still searching for the carjacker.

On Sunday evening, police found the stolen car near the 100 block of Donwood Drive.

The thief is described as a white male, 15 to16 years old. He was wearing a white ski jacket and a dark-coloured toque.

On Friday, he produced a handgun and demanded the victim’s car keys. The victim turned over her keys and fled into the shopping centre.

Members of the Winnipeg police major crimes unit are investigating. Anyone who has any information about the incident or the thief is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
