$1.3M worth of drugs, firearms seized in Alonsa bust
RCMP have busted two suspected grow ops in the RM of Alonsa and have seized $1.3 million worth of drugs as well as 15 firearms.
The RCMP Winnipeg Drug Section and the RCMP Ste Rose Detachment executed search warrants on two properties in the RM of Alonsa near Cayer and Crane River, Sgt. Line Karpish said today.
Outdoor marijuana grow operations were located on both properties, resulting in 204 marijuana plants and 14 firearms being seized from the property located near Crane River. A 49-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman of the RM of Alonsa were arrested and will face drugs and weapons charges, Karpish said. A house was also searched at this site where the firearms were seized.
On the property near Cayer, police seized 725 marijuana plants, one firearm, and about 20 pounds of processed marijuana were seized from the property near Cayer. Three men -- a 55-year-old from Cayer, a 26-year-old from Winnipeg and a 42-year-old of no fixed address -- face drugs and weapons charges.
Assistance in this investigation was also provided by the Manitoba West District, "D" Division Containment Team, Emergency Response Teams from both Manitoba and Saskatchewan, as well as the "D" Division Police Dog Services, Karpish said.
The investigation continues.
