50 Shades! The Musical hitting the stage at concert hall

  • Print

Just when it seemed the "Fifty Shades" phenomenon might be fading, along comes the stage version to put "mommy porn" back in the spotlight — sort of.

50 Shades! The Musical is an off-Broadway parody of the Fifty Shades of Grey erotica novel trilogy and it’s coming to Winnipeg’s Centennial Concert Hall Sept. 5-7. Tickets are $49.50 and $59.50 and go on sale July 13 at 10 a.m. on Ticketmaster.

The show, which has drawn sold-out audiences in Chicago and New York and was a hit at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, opens with a women’s book club deciding to read the titular, S&M-laced E L James novel.

According to a news release, it features numerous dance numbers and 11 original songs, including They Get Nasty, I Don’t Make Love, and There’s a Hole Inside of Me. Like the book series, it’s targeted at an adult audience.
