3rd candidate enters St. James-Brooklands council race

WINNIPEG- A third candidate has entered the city council race in St. James- Brooklands.

Deanne Crothers registered her campaign for the city's least populous ward late on Friday afternoon. She faces competition from one-term incumbent Scott Fielding and Fred Morris, who finished fourth in the ward in 2006.

Crothers, an adult literacy instructor, has never run for office before. She is a member of the New Democratic Party.

Registration for mayoral and council candidates is open until Sept. 21. Candidates must also submit nomination papers between Sept. 15 and 21.

The ballot will be set on Sept. 22. The election takes place Oct. 27.
