A good morning for McLean at Players Cup

WINNIPEG — Despite a bogey at the last hole, it fell into place for Canadian Tour veteran Alan McLean this morning at Pine Ridge.
McLean, the 41-year-old who resides in London, Ont., fired a five-under-par 66 to share the lead mid-way through the first day at the Canadian Tour’s Winnipeg stop, the Players Cup.
McLean card was matched by 25-year-old Chris Killmer from Bellingham, Wash. Killmer had two eagles on his day.
The duo has a shot on Australians Jason Scrivener and Matt Jager, Mexico’s Jose de Jesus Rodgriguez and Jaime Gomez of the U.S., all in early today with 67s.
Top Canadians in from today’s early draw are Winnipeg’s Tyler Mancini, who’s a member of the tour and whose home course is Pine Ridge, and Matt Hoffman from Thornhill, Ont., both at 68.
B.C.’s Nick Taylor was in 69, Winnipeg’s Scott Loewen, also a tour member, was 70 while former Manitoba Open champion Rob McMillan and Pine Ridge amateur Josh Wytinck shot even-par 71s.
Play continues through a Friday cut to the low 60 players and ties and the champion will be crowned Sunday afternoon.
