A suspect who allegedly posted an online ad for a smartphone (iPhone5) in Winnipeg and then allegedly held up at gunpoint prospective buyers who responded has been arrested by Ontario Provincial Police in Kenora.
The alleged scam involved posting an online ad and meeting with potential buyers in the area of Burrows Avenue. In one case on Feb. 6, at about 8:30 p.m., a victim was robbed at gunpoint of cash.
A similar incident in the area of Burrows and Main Street happened on Feb. 12 when a 22-year-old man and 19-year-old woman were robbed.
Henry Horvath, 28, was turned over to Winnipeg police and charged with two counts of armed robbery, pointing a firearm, and disguise with intent.
