A two-foot alligator that was living in a St. Vital home has been seized by Winnipeg's Animal Services.
Animal services officers, assisted by police, acted Wednesday on a tip regarding the reptile.
Alligators are illegal in Winnipeg under the Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw.
An American alligator can grow up to 15 feet or more and weigh as much as 1,000 pounds.
Its natural habitat is the southern United States such as Florida, Louisiana and Texas.
Animal Services officers are now working to find a home for the alligator at a zoo.
