Angus new chair of committee for international environmental commission

Dave Angus, president and CEO of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, has been elected to a one-year term as chair of the 15-member Joint Public Advisory Committee (JPAC) of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation, whose members are from Canada, Mexico and the U.S.

Angus had previously been appointed to the board by the federal government and was elected chairman after a workshop last week in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico which brought together more than 100 community leaders and environmental experts from across North America.

JPAC’s role is to promote continental cooperation in ecosystem protection and sustainable economic development, provide advice on matters within the scope of the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation and ensure active public participation and transparency in the actions of the Commission.
