Arborg industrial fire deemed accidental

A fire at an Arborg plant on Friday was accidental and not arson, RCMP said this morning.

The early-morning fire at Pro-Fab Industries in the RM of Bifrost saw 35 to 40 employees evacuated from the building, which was emitting thick smoke.

"The cause of the fire is not considered suspicious in nature. The fire has been deemed accidental," police said in a press release today.

Fire and smoke damage was considered extensive. There were no reports of injuries.

The plant, about 100 kilometres north of Winnipeg, makes alternative energy heating products such as wood furnaces.
