Charges laid in fatal stabbing

A 34-year-old man is dead and a 27-year-old woman faces charges after a fatal stabbing on Kennedy Street Friday.

The incident happened at around 5:30 p.m., when police received reports of a stabbing in a 300 block apartment complex. After arriving they found a man suffering from what looked to be an upper body stab wound. He was rushed to hospital, but died from his injuries.

The victim is identified as 34-year-old Orzias Joram Knott, of Garden Hill.

Police say a number of people had been socializing in a suite during the afternoon when an argument broke out between the victim and a 27-year-old woman. It ended with the womam stabbing the victim, police allege.

Casandra Lydia Knott, 27, of Winnipeg, has been charged with manslaughter. She has been detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.

The Winnipeg Police homicide and investigation units are still investigating.
