Tim Sinclair-Smith was the face of the biggest overhaul ever at the Assiniboine Park Zoo.
And now the director of zoological operations is leaving, just as the newest major drawing cards in the project, such as the Journey to Churchill exhibit, are about to be rolled out to the public.
A brief statement from zoo’s corporate brand made the surprise announcement this morning.
"Tim’s contributions to our success to date are too many to mention," said board president Margaret Redmond.
The zoo is part of the Assiniboine Park Conservancy.
Sinclair-Smith, his wife and and 22-month-old son are returning to their native Australia and their extended family.
Sinclair-Smith was hired in June 2011 and was expected to oversee the zoo during its $90-million reconstruction.
