Bill Taylor, the man who was in charge of the Assiniboine Valley Railway, died early Monday. He was 68.
Taylor was the president and CEO of the Assiniboine Valley Railway, a miniature train ride that runs near the Assiniboine Park. Between June and October, on the second weekend of every month, the train rides are open to the public. The railway also gets decorated with around 100,000 lights during the Christmas season.
A message on the railway’s website delivered the news. "It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that our President, Bill Taylor, passed away in the early hours of August 26, 2013 surrounded by family and friends," the message stated.
An answering machine for the railway stated the 2013 Dinner Railway has been cancelled, and the club will work to reimburse those who have bought tickets. The website stated the club will meet in the next weeks to determine how to move forward.
