  • Print

A man who was stabbed early Saturday morning by two men asking for a cigarette has been upgraded to stable condition in hospital and police are asking for help in identifying his attackers.

The stabbing occurred in the 500 block of Redwood Avenue at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday when a 50-year-old man outside his home was approached by two men he didn’t know asking for a cigarette, police said in a news release.

The suspects attacked him, and he was taken to hospital in unstable condition with stab wounds to his upper body.

His attackers are both described as aboriginal men, around 19 or 20 years old.

One was about 5-10 with a thin build, and the other was about 5-8 with a muscular build, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-2848 or CrimeStoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
