Axworthy speaks today at Canadian Club

WINNIPEG - University of Winnipeg president and vice-chancellor Lloyd Axworthy will speak to a Canadian Club luncheon today.
The former federal Liberal heavyweight’s address will focus on recognizing community learning as a central pillar of post-secondary education in the 21st century. Community learning refers to the responsibility of the university to function in an accessible manner and to open itself up to the wide diversity of knowledge and experience represented within society.
Axworthy will take the microphone shortly after noon at the Fort Garry Hotel.
The Canadian Club will welcome another high-profile speaker, federal NDP leader Jack Layton, on Dec. 4 at the Marlborough Hotel.
