BU professors crossing strike lines asked not to penalize students

Brandon University student leaders are touring the campus today  to ask strike-breaking professors to sign a pledge guaranteeing they won’t penalize students who refuse to cross picket lines.

"It’s not an obnoxious task --- we’re just asking," BU Students Union president Deandra Tousignant said this morning. "We’re trying to get the professors who cross the picket lines to sign a pledge saying they won’t penalize students."

The BU Faculty Association strike is in its sixth day, though the professors will table a new offer this morning to the administration.

Some professors crossed their own picket lines this morning to return to teach classes. BU has told students that they will be responsible for their own academic standing should they choose not to cross picket lines to attend classes being taught during the strike.
