Babysitter saves 3 children from Lundar house fire

Mounties are crediting the quick thinking of a 14-year-old babysitter for saving three children from a house fire in Lundar, Man.

Emergency crews were dispatched Tuesday morning about 9:30 a.m. to fight the house fire in the Rural Municipality of Coldwell. But on arrival, crews found the house totally engulfed in flames.

"Thanks to her quick action, there were no injuries," Lundar RCMP said in the statement today.

"There were three children in the home at the time, aged 8, 9 and 10, as well as (the) 14-year-old babysitter. The babysitter observed flames, evacuated the children to safety, and called 911."

Damage is extensive, and the home is presumed to be a complete loss, RCMP said.

No damage estimate was available and RCMP are investigating the fire.
