Bald eagle becomes regular visitor to Assiniboine Zoo

A wild bald eagle has returned to Winnipeg where it’s visiting four bald eagles at the Assiniboine Park Zoo.

The wild bald eagle perches on nearby trees and regularly calls to the zoo’s four eagles, which reply.

Zoo officials said this is the third year in a row that the wild eagle has visited here. It usually stays for only one week but it’s now into its second week.

The wild eagle often lands inside the nearby Arctic Fox exhibit to pick up fish or meat left for the foxes, scaring the foxes.

Zoo curator Dr. Bob Wrigley will meet with reporters this afternoon to talk about the bald eagles.
