Beattie, Needles reunite for new (non-Wingfield) show

Any resemblance between the owner of Ed’s Garage and stockbroker-turned-farmer Walt Wingfield is purely coincidental.
Actor Rod Beattie and playwright Dan Needles are the team behind the Wingfield series, one of Canadian theatre’s most recognized and enduring comedy franchises. But they venture beyond Wingfield’s fictional home turf of Persephone Township with Ed’s Garage, a non-Wingfield comedy commencing at the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre on Feb. 7 and running until March 2.
The play offers all-new characters (and more than one actor) in a comedy about a small-town mechanic who has a sideline in offering sage advice to his customers, until a psychotherapist moves next door.
While Beattie worked solo on the stage for the Wingfield plays, he will be sharing the RMTC mainstage with Andrew Cecon, Douglas E. Hughes and Tracy Penner this time out.
