Better Business Bureau sends out email scam alert

The Better Business Bureau is issuing an scam alert after suspicious emails that look like they are from the bureau were spotted Thursday night.

They said the emails have the subject line "Complaint from your customers," a return address that the bureau does not use and is signed with the address of the Council of Better Business Bureaus.

The email contains a link to a non-BBB website and may have malware or a virus attached to it.

BBB Manitoba and Northwest Ontario said despite the incident, their database remains secure and has not been hacked.

It has been determined that phishing scam is originating from a server in Nepal.

The BBB is advising consumers and businesses to run a virus scan on your computer if they have clicked the link.
