Bisons beat Huskies 31-28 in final minutes of play

Thanks to a late touchdown catch by Nic Demski, the Manitoba Bisons rumbled past the Saskatchewan Huskies 31-28 at a windy University Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Down 26-25 with 2:02 left, Manitoba quarterback Cam Clark found the running back in the endzone from five yards out for the winning score. Prior to the touchdown, Demski had fumbled a punt return catch that led to the eighth-ranked Huskies taking a one-point lead with less than three minutes to play.

Bryan Giesbrecht, Kienan LaFrance, and Anthony Coombs had the other touchdowns for the Bisons, who trailed 14-7 at halftime.

Ranked 10th in the CIS, Manitoba improves to 2-0 in Canada West conference play. The Bisons won their season opener 31-24 over UBC last week.

Manitoba has its next two games at home, starting with the Homecoming Game against No. 3-ranked Calgary Sept. 15 (1 p.m.).
