The restaurant biz may be keeping him hopping, but former Blue Bomber Obby Khan will still find time to help out on the football field this summer.
Khan, 32, will join the University of Manitoba Bisons football coaching staff this season, according to a team release. The Bisons will hold a formal press conference on Tuesday to share details about him joining the team.
After announcing his retirement from professional football in April last year, Khan signed on to help out Bisons offensive-line coach Terry Watson. But the 32-year-old offensive lineman then had to head out of town, after he came out of his brief retirement to sign with the Calgary Stampeders when that team was riddled with injuries.
He would go on to see the Grey Cup Final with Calgary. The Stampeders released him in March.
Meanwhile, Khan is keeping busy with his other coaching work and his restaurant, Shawarma Khan, which started dishing out classic Middle Eastern pitas in the Exchange District earlier this year. The joint will also have a location at Investors Group Field to serve fans during Bomber games.
