Bisons men's hockey players honoured

Forward Blair Macaulay, 23, and defenceman Jeremy Schappert, 23, of the University of Manitoba Bisons men’s hockey team were named 2011-2012 Canadian Interuniversity Sport second team all-Canadians on Wednesday.
The all-stars and individual award winners were announced at the All-Canadian Gala in Fredericton, where the University Cup national championship will begin on Thursday.
It was the first CIS honours for both the third-year Macaulay and the second-year Schappert. Macaulay was also a finalist for the 2011-12 CIS player of the year award which was won by Acadia Axemen third-year centre Andrew Clark, who is a Brandon native. Schappert was a finalist for the 2011-12 CIS Defenceman of the Year award.
Macaulay, a Winnipeg native, led the CIS in goal-scoring with 23 goals this season. Playing in all 28 games, he tied his career-high in points with 33 while finishing third overall in Canada West conference scoring. He was named the 2011-12 Canada West most valuable player and to the conference's first all-star team.
This season, Schappert was named the 2011-12 Canada West outstanding defenceman and to the conference's first all-star team. A Winnipeg native, Schappert led Canada West in defenceman scoring with 23 points in 28 games. He was tied as the conference's top-scoring defenceman with six goals and 17 assists.
Clark, a former member of the Brandon Wheat Kings, won the Atlantic University Sport scoring title with 15 goals and 24 assists in 28 games.
