Bomber's Cvetkovic may be out for season

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers continued to shape their 2010 roster with the release of six more players Wednesday morning and now may also be without long-snapping specialist Chris Cvetkovic for the entire season.

The club announced that import quarterback Adam DiMichele, defensive linemen LaDarien Scott and Remond Willis were cut, along with receiver Willie Foster and running back Emmanuel Marc — both Americans — and Canadian receiver Scott McHenry.

Meanwhile, a Canadian Football League source told The Free Press the knee injury to Cvetkovic is much more serious than initially thought and he may be forced to miss the entire year. An excellent snapper and popular player in the clubhouse during his seven seasons with Winnipeg, Cvetkovic will likely be replaced by offensive lineman Adam Bestard. A 2009 draft pick of the Bombers out of Wilfrid Laurier, Bestard filled in capably for Cvetkovic in Sunday's preseason loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats when the veteran went down in the first quarter.

The release of DiMichele means the Bombers quarterbacks are Buck Pierce, Steven Jyles and rookie Alex Brink out of Washington State. All CFL teams must declare their rosters by 2 p.m. Thursday.

The team returns to practice this morning at Rods' Field in St. James as Canad Inns Stadium is unavailable following Tuesday's Eagles' concert.
