Bombers release four players

The guillotine has fallen on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers training camp roster, with four players getting clipped Sunday morning.
The club announced the release of import wide receiver Paul Hubbard, import defensive end Brandon Akpunko, import linebacker Javon McKinnon and import cornerback David Pender prior to practice at Canad Inns Stadium. The Bombers were required to get down to a league-mandated 65-player training camp roster Sunday.
The most notable of the cuts is Hubbard, who looked good in camp and was challenging for the fifth starting receiver spot on the team. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound pass catcher from Wisconsin struggled in the Bombers 22-10 pre-season win over Montreal last week, and suffered a shoulder injury in the process.
With the cuts came an addition Sunday, as the Bombers have brought in import offensive lineman Shannon Boatman to camp. The 6-foot-6, 342-pound Florida State-product is no stranger to the CFL, having started five games for the Toronto Argonauts during the 2010 season.
He was one of the final cuts for the Argos in camp last season.
Boatman gives the Bombers another import tackle to evaluate, joining starters Andre Douglas and Glenn January, along with Jordan Taormina, on the training camp roster.
