Boy charged in killing of pizza store employee

WINNIPEG — A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of a 54-year-old Pizza Hotline employee.

Winnipeg police said homicide detectives arrested the suspect at about 11 p.m. Monday in the area of Munroe Avenue and Panet Road.

He has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Gerald Crayford, who worked at the Pizza Hotline outlet at 1100 Concordia Ave.

Police said Crayford was injured when two males robbed the outlet early Sunday morning. The Winnipeg resident was taken to hospital in critical condition, and died from his injuries the following day.

The suspect has been detained in custody at the Manitoba Youth Centre, and the police investigation is continuing.
