Nurses and social workers who assist Winnipeg’s blind community will walk the picket line this morning.

Nineteen employees from the Winnipeg Canadian National Institute for the Blind voted down the company’s final offer on March 11.

UFCW Local 832 spokesman Blake Crothers said members will picket in front of 1080 Portage Ave. this morning along with their clients who support them.

Members are upset the employer wants to scale back paid sick leave, and Crothers said the frontline workers are already paid between $5 to $6 less per hour than workers at other non-profits.

"The members feel like enough’s enough," Crothers said.
