Man arrested in cabbie assault

A 33-year-old man is in custody for the assault of a cab driver Thursday night near Jubilee Avenue and Osborne Street.

The taxi picked up three men in St. Vital shortly before midnight. While in transport, a man in the backseat started assaulting the driver and trying to remove the safety shield, police say. A male in the front seat tried to stop him.

The cab stopped and the men left. The cab driver was not robbed.

The suspect has been charged with assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. He has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
