A 57-year-old Winnipeg cab driver injured in a crash on Monday morning has died.

According to a family member Rajinder P. Sodhi, also known as Paul to his friends, family and colleagues, had just picked up his second fare of the day when his Duffy’s taxi collided at about 6:30 a.m. on Monday with another vehicle at the intersection of Sargent Avenue and King Edward Street.

"He passed away at 3 this morning," Sodhi's niece Kulwinder, told the Free Press today.

Police stated on Monday traffic investigators spoke with witnesses who believe the cab may have run a red light.

According to police, a passenger in the cab and the driver of the other car involved, a silver Cadillac CTS, were also taken to hospital in stable condition.
