A 15-year-old Manitoba girl has been arrested after a stolen car was found crashed and burning on the side of a road in Portage la Prairie.
RCMP responded to the report of a single vehicle collision just after 6 a.m. Tuesday on Stephens Avenue. Officers found the vehicle had burst into flames after striking a hydro pole, which was also on fire.
The young female driver was standing beside the car but began running as soon as police pulled up to the scene. She was caught after a short chase.
Police say the teen was impaired and had been behind the wheel of the 2006 Nissan Altima, which had been stolen. The accused is now facing several charges including drunk driving, possession of property obtained by crime and failing to comply with an undertaking.
