The Manitoba Lung Association is looking for quitters this week.
Hoping to get its message out to as many Manitoba smokers as possible during national Non-Smoking Week, the provincial lung association has put together a contest designed to get people to quit for the month of March.
Five prizes of $1,000 are up for grabs. The official launch of the ‘Manitoba Quits’ program is Monday.
"We know that most people who smoke really want to quit," Manitoba Lung Association executive director Margaret Bernhardt-Lowdon said in a statement. "Manitoba Quits provides them with a little extra incentive, as well as encouragement and support to get through the quitting process."
National Non-Smoking Week, which is observed annually during the third week of January, focuses on the dangers of smoking with the aim of helping people to quit and discouraging the practice.
