Graham Lane, chairman of Manitoba’s Public Utilities Board since March 2004, will retire March 31, the PUB said in a release today.
Lane, a chartered accountant since 1968, has also served with the Workers Compensation Board and the Public Investment Corporation of Manitoba, the pre-cursor of the Crown Corporations Council, and at the Crown Investment Corporation of Saskatchewan. Lane was also VP of finance at the University of Winnipeg.
Lane’s time at the PUB has been marked by a rocky relationship between the PUB and Manitoba Hydro and Manitoba Public Insurance. Both Crown corporations have recently gone to the Manitoba Court of Appeal over how much jurisdiction the PUB has in their business plans.
The PUB, a quasi-judicial administrative tribunal, has regulatory and rate setting responsibilities in determining Autopac rates and hydro and natural gas rates.
