Children in Magnus Avenue home when man was shot: police

Two young girls were among the victims during violence at a Magnus Avenue home early Friday.
Police tape was down from around the home Friday morning, but a lone bullet hole was still clearly visible in the small white house next to the Andrews Street Family Centre.
Police said the suspect or suspects who went into the home on the 500 block of Magnus set off pepper spray inside, and a 25-year-old man who lived at the home was shot in his lower body.
Inside the home were also a baby girl and a seven-year-old girl, as well as a 37-year-old man and his 26-year-old wife, a 59-year-old woman and 30-year-old man.
Surveillance in the area allegedly showed seven people heading across the street to the home before the violence started, said a resident.
"We don’t know who, or if there was an intended target," said Const. Jason Michalyshen. Police said the shooting victim is now in stable condition.
Michalyshen said he wasn’t aware of anything taken in the course of the violence, and that officers are in the early stages of an investigation.
Friday morning, a single blue plastic glove was abandoned on the sidewalk outside, and a pair of women’s shoes sat in front of the home.
Neighbours said different generations of a family lived in the home.
One resident said surveillance collected from nearby indicated eight shots were fired in the course of what happened, which police didn’t confirm.
Pepper-spray led to non-life threatening injuries, said police.
Police said they were interviewing people Friday, and didn’t have anyone in custody.
