Chiropractor guilty of sexually assaulting, beating ex-girlfriend

  • Print

An Osborne Street chiropractor was found guilty today of raping and beating a former girlfriend.

Justice Colleen Suche handed down a written ruling earlier today, finding Marlin Vandermeulen guilty of six of the nine offences, including sexual assault causing bodily harm and assault causing bodily harm.

The victim cannot be identified.

A date for a sentencing hearing is expected to be set later this summer or early in the fall.

The trial was held in late February and Suche released her decision earlier today.

Court was told that Vandermeulen and the victim had been in a relationship for about four years, from 2007 to 2010. The assaults occurred in the final two years of the relationship, when Vandermeulen forced the victim to have sex with him.

Vandermeulen operates as Marlin Chiropractic on south Osborne Street.
