Horror lives... at a theatre near you.

Cineplex Entertainment is preparing a second program of independent horror films to screen at Silver City Polo Park — and across Canada — following 2013’s winning Sinister Cinema program, which included worthy, imaginative shockers such as American Mary and John Dies at the End.

Cineplex’s Front Row Centre Events, in conjunction with Raven Banner Entertainment, announced the 2014 Sinister Cinema program will include a Dean Koontz adaptation, a claustrophobic horror film set inside a car and the latest entry in a gory franchise about an icky infection run amok.

On the release slate:

Odd Thomas (Thursday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m.)

Anton Yelchin stars as a clairvoyant short-order cook who senses doom is coming to his small town in an adaptation of a Dean Koontz novel by director Stephen Sommers (The Mummy, Van Helsing). Co-starring Willem Dafoe and Patton Oswalt.

In Fear (Thursday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m.)

Described as a real-time home-invasion movie set in a car, director Jeremy Lovering’s Sundance hit follows a young couple (Iain De Caestecker and Alice Englert) as they fight to survive as they are stalked through a maze of lonely country roads by an unseen tormentor.

Cheap Thrills (Thursday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m.)

This black-comedy thriller presents an unemployed auto mechanic (Pat Healy) and his friend (Ethan Embry) earning money from a depraved rich couple (David Koechner and Sara Paxton) who assign them increasingly dangerous tasks for money. Directed by E.L. Katz.

The Battery (Thursday Apr. 17 at 7:30 p.m.)

A skewed take on the apocalyptic zombie movie follows a pair of former baseball players traversing a zombie-plagued New England, triumphing over the undead and getting on each other’s nerves. Directed by Jeremy Gardner.

Cabin Fever: Patient Zero (Thursday, May 29 at 7:30 p.m.)

Eli Roth’s first feature Cabin Fever (2002) spawned this second sequel set at sea, where a cruise ship in the Caribbean collides with an abandoned research vessel carrying a deadly, flesh-eating virus. Directed by Kaare Andrews.
