Citizen, cadets save person on downtown street who wasn't breathing

The efforts of  auxiliary police cadets and a private citizen are being credited with saving an individual’s life this week.

Two Winnipeg Police Auxiliary Cadets patrolling in the downtown area Wednesday came across a person performing CPR to a person in distress on the street who was unconscious and not breathing.

The cadets immediately requested medical assistance, with one of the cadets performing CPR.

The individual was transported to hospital.

Police said they want to acknowledge the efforts of the cadets and the private citizen, adding that Emergency Medical Services said that without their intervention the individual would not likely have survived.
