Crews will go 'around the clock' to clear snow

City crews are out in full force today plowing main routes, bus routes and collector streets following the more than 20 centimetres of snow that accumulated Saturday evening and overnight.
And the work will continue Monday.
Salting and sanding of streets is continuing around-the-clock to improve traction on roadways, according to a city press release.
Plowing of sidewalks on major routes started overnight, and will be followed by plowing of sidewalks on bus routes, collector streets and sidewalks on residential streets.
Back lanes are also being plowed daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. until it's completed. About 200 pieces of equipment will be used for this part of the clean-up operation.
Outside of Winnipeg, the Trans-Canada Highway reopened after 10 a.m. Sunday after being closed west of Headingley to Portage la Prairie, RCMP said. It was closed Saturday night because of extremely slippery conditions.
Most other highways in Southern Manitoba are reported to be snow-covered and/or slippery. For the latest conditions and highway closures, go to the Manitoba road information website at www.gov.mb.ca/mit/roadinfo/ .
More snow is forecast in Winnipeg today with amounts of two to four centimetres and a high of -4 C.
On Monday, expect light snow in the morning with skies clearing in the afternoon.
