City firm named one of fastest-growing tech companies

WINNIPEG — A Winnipeg company that provides workforce management services to other employers has been named one of North America’s 500 fastest growing technology companies.

Payworks placed 411th on Deloitte LLP’s Technology Fast 500 list, and was the only Manitoba company to make the list. The firm offers integrated online solutions for payroll, human resources and employee time management.

Although it’s the first time Payworks has made Deloitte’s Fast 500 North American list, it was named to the company’s Top 50 Canadian list in both 2009 and 2010.

"Payworks and all of the Technology Fast 500 winners in 2011 have shown a remarkable drive for creativity and innovation, and of course growth, particularly when you look at their accomplishments in the context of current economic conditions," said Richard Lee, national leader of Deloitte Canada’s Technology Media and Telecommunications Industry Group. "Deloitte congratulates Payworks for this significant achievement."

To qualify for the Technology Fast 500 list, a company must have been in business for at least five years, have operating revenues of at least $5 million in its most recent fiscal year, be headquartered in North America and own proprietary intellectual property or technology.
