City lawyer named chairman of Legal Aid Manitoba
Winnipeg lawyer Timothy Valgardson has been appointed chairman of Legal Aid Manitoba.
Valgardson, a director at Levene Tadman Golub Law Corp., succeeds Mario Santos, whose term was not renewed earlier this year.
Valgardson will earn $35,000 a year in the role, according to a recent Manitoba Order in Council. His appointment is for three years.
Valgardson’s legal specialties include labour relations, criminal and civil litigation as well as acting as a consultant on governance to corporations and boards of directors.
Valgardson graduated with an arts degree from the University of Winnipeg and studied law at the University of Manitoba.
He is a former chairman of the Manitoba Lotteries Corp.
With his appointment, the management council of Legal Aid Manitoba consists of the following:
