City man charged in marijuana grow-op

A 32-year-old Winnipeg man faces of charges of drug trafficking following the discovery by police of a marijuana grow-op in the 300 block of St. John's Avenue Friday.

Winnipeg police arrived at the North End home just after midnight Friday on an unrelated manner and members of the police marijuana grow operation unit obtained a search warrant.

Police seized 43 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $48,160, 17 pounds of harvested marijuana with an estimated street value of $12,500, and grow operation equipment valued at $8,000.

The 32-year-old was arrested and faces charges of possessing a substance for purposes of trafficking and production of a controlled substance.

He was released on a promise to appear.
