A 25-year-old man was arrested Saturday after he tried to hit a police officer with an all-terrain vehicle, police say.
The man was driving the ATV in the area of McGillivray Boulevard and road No. 7 East in the RM of McDonald and became uncooperative regarding his identity during a traffic stop.
The Winnipeg Police Service officer arrested the man but the man accelerated the ATV which struck the officer and dragged the officer about five metres.
The officer sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The man was located nearby and is facing charges of assaulting a police officer, flight from police, escaping lawful custody, failing to display a valid registration plate and sticker, operating or permitting the operation of an uninsured off-road vehicle, failing to wear a helmet and operating an off-road vehicle carelessly.
He was released on a promise to appear in court.
