City council's executive policy committee voted unanimously today to approve a snowmobile and ATV ban that would take effect this November.

The City of Winnipeg is once again poised to ban off-road vehicle use within city limits this coming fall.

Council's executive policy committee voted unanimously today to approve a snowmobile and ATV ban that would take effect this November.

Late last month, council's protection and community services committee voted to amend a Winnipeg Police Service plan so that the ban would take effect in two years.

Today, Charleswood Coun. Paula Havixbeck said she concedes to an earlier implementation, for safety reasons.

The plan still calls for drop-off points to allow access to snowmobile and ATV areas outside the city.

The ban still requires council approval next week.
