The city and province will help pay for improvements to another 34 recreation sites in Winnipeg.
Since 2010, the two levels of government have committed $10 million through the building communities initiative to help upgrade 37 play structures, parks, athletic fields splash pads, and other recreation spots in Winnipeg. Thirty-one projects have been completed and the remaining six will be finished in 2013.
This morning, officials announced they will launch a second phase, which will see 34 new community projects receive funding. The projects will be announced in the coming months.
The funding total for the second phase will be $10 million. Under the second phase of the project, the Mayfair Recreation Centre will receive $1.1 million for expansion and upgrades.
