City removing snowbanks off streets and bridges

Winnipeg has started to remove excess snow and ice from bridges and major intersections.

This afternoon, city officials announced crews have started to haul large snow piles to improve visibility and safety for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists. The snow-hauling operation will continue around-the-clock for the next few weeks and temporary no parking signs will be placed in locations where snow will be removed.

Vehicles parked in violation of the temporary parking restriction will be ticketed and towed. City officials said the snow removal may cause traffic delays in some areas, and warned motorists to use caution when driving near heavy equipment.
