Rachel Cockrell of the Manitoba Bisons and Ozana Nikolic of the Winnipeg Wesmen have been named Canada West Universities Athletic Association women's volleyball all-stars.
Cockrell, 20, was named a first-team all-star while Nikolic, 19, was named to the second team.
A second-year Bisons hitter, Cockrell finished second in Canada West kills at 4.00 per set (284 kills/71 sets) and second in conference points at 4.51 per game (320.0 points/71 sets) and tenth in Canada West hitting percentage at .284 (284 kills-97 errors/658 total attacks).
The Winnipeg native and co-captain added 110 digs, 37 total blocks, 18 assists and 15 service aces while playing in 71 of 78 conference regular-season sets for the Bisons in 2012-13.
Nikolic, a second-year left-side player, led the CIS and Canada West in kills (333), points (381) and placed eighth in the conference in defensive digs.
Nikolic recorded a Canada West match-high 29 kills against UBC Okanagan (Feb. 2, 2013) and had 21 defensive digs in match at Calgary (Nov. 11, 2012). During the regular season, she recorded 20 plus kills in seven regular-season matches.
