The Perimeter Highway, half a kilometre north of Highway 3, was closed just before 10 p.m. Friday because of a motor vehicle collision, Manitoba Highways said in a news release.
A car smashed into the back of a flatbed semi-trailer. Emergency crews were seen working to rescue the occupants of the car.
The female driver of the car and a child passenger were taken to Winnipeg hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The male driver of the semi-trailer was not injured.
Emergency crews are still on the scene, and traffic is down to one lane in either direction so motorists are asked to slow down and drive cautiously in this area.
Highway 3 becomes McGillivray Boulevard inside city limits.
