A second taxi crash in as many days has sent two people to hospital.
The crash, at the intersection of Kenaston Blvd. and Academy Rd., happened about 12:30 a.m. today, police said.
Initial accounts suggest the cab collided with a stolen car. The cab driver and passenger were taken to hospital and are in stable condition. The occupants of the stolen car fled the scene and remain at large, despite a search by a police helicopter and canine unit.
The vehicles have been towed away and city crews are working on a light standard to restore traffic signals.
Today's collision comes after an unrelated crash early Thursday, which killed the passenger of a Duffy’s cab. Witnesses described the passenger and driver as being involved in some sort of confrontation as the vehicle careened into a tree on Beverley Street near Portage Avenue just before 4 a.m. on Thursday. The 31-year-old driver was taken to hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery.
