Conservatory offers free music sampling

Music lovers can get a sampling of the lessons, classes and ensemble activities offered at the "new and improved" Manitoba Conservatory of Music & Arts during its free open house today and Thursday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The non-profit community music school, located on the second floor of the Crocus Building at 211 Bannatyne Ave., has a new managing director and a new dean of music, positions created as part of a re-organization.
As a cost-saving measure, the conservatory recently downsized its classroom and office space.

In addition to live performances by student and faculty members, the Open House offers:

❚ an instrument "petting zoo" for the kids (instruments provided by Long & McQuade).

❚ a free 10-minute music lesson (for all ages; instruments are provided).

❚ cupcakes from Cake-ology.

❚ a chance to win door prizes, including tickets to a Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra Sundays with the Family concert.
