Construction set to begin on Sturgeon Road Bridge

The city has started construction on the Sturgeon Road Bridge.

The bridge over Sturgeon Creek will be replaced, and the road between Portage Avenue to Hallonquist Drive will be reconstructed. City officials said they will start construction on the east side this year, and the west side next year.

One lane of traffic will be maintained in one direction for the duration of the project, which is expected to be complete by fall 2013.

Starting May 5, the northbound lanes of Sturgeon Road from Portage Avenue to Hallonquist Drive will be closed and traffic will be diverted to one lane in each direction on the existing southbound lanes.

Once complete, construction on the west portion will begin.
