Winter might really be ending this week

Or not

  • Print

This could be the final week of the winter that doesn’t want to end.

Environment Canada is calling for a high of -2 C in Winnipeg today, a few degrees warmer than yesterday’s prediction when the national weather office was calling for a high of -5 C.

The bad news, depending on your perspective, is it’s going to be cloudy all day and there is a 30 per cent chance of flurries. The overnight low is -19 C.

Monday the sun should return and the temperature is forecast to reach -4 C. Tuesday, Environment Canada is calling for a high of -2 C and Wednesday it is predicted to hit 0 C.

After a dip to -5 C Thursday, the long-range forecast for Friday and Saturday has Winnipeg getting up to 3 C and 4 C respectively (yes, the minus signs are missing from in front of those numbers), so if those predictions are correct, spring might finally be on its way.
